Defining Culture

Who are we as a team? What defines us? How do we convey this to others?

Team culture is foundational to team success. Without a well-defined culture, purpose and drive may be lost in pursuit of playtime and wins.

This workshop is designed based on the needs of the team. Caroline works with the coaching staff to narrow in on the culture being sought. Once a theme is chosen, the session will be designed to focus on defining key ingredients of team culture, and assigning clear action steps to attain critical factors.

Common themes to consider include:

  • Humility
  • Appreciation
  • Confidence
  • Transparency

Handling Conflict

Conflict is inevitable over the course of a competitive college or high school season. This workshop is directly tailored to a team’s needs, to address current or foreseen issues. This collaborative and interactive team session intends to motivate and equip players with skills and confidence to handle team challenges, whatever they may be.

Research suggests that creating ‘a game plan’ in the face of conflict can help players navigate proactively, cooperatively, and successfully.

Common themes to consider include:

  • Navigating Campus Climate (i.e. social pressures beyond sport)
  • Playing Time & Relationships
  • School & Sport Balance
  • Reframing Criticism (i.e. how can we give and receive criticism proactively)
  • Understanding & Blending Personalities

Framing Goals

Performance goals are easy to dream, yet difficult to achieve.

This workshop helps to articulate and frame season goals. First, athletes will collaborate to determine performance goals for the season. Then, we will use these goals as a starting point, and work to break down performance goals into learning goals to help athletes’ pinpoint key actions vital to team success.

By adapting performance goals into learning goals, each team member will leave with a personal set of action steps to fulfill in order to contribute to achieving team performance goals.
